The artwork “Joyus Encounter” is a colorful piece where Silvina depicts her impression of a warm and rich sunset. This piece makes us feel safe and warm. The magic is in the colors of the sky of dusk and dawn. It creates a desire to be in such a place. Imagine lying on a mattress, watching the sunset over the beautiful horizon. Imagine meeting with someone and sitting on a bench and watching the sunset. You’ve finished work and you can sit back and relax. Embrace the magic of the moment. I often think this is the artist’s way of displaying her desires. What we take away from the artwork is the artist’s way of looking at the world.

La obra de arte “Encuentro jovial” es una pieza colorida donde Silvina representa su impresión de una cálida y rica puesta de sol. Esta pieza nos hace sentir seguros y cálidos. La magia está en los colores del cielo del atardecer y del amanecer. Crea un deseo de estar en tal lugar. Imagínate tumbado en un colchón, contemplando el atardecer sobre el hermoso horizonte. Imagina reunirte con alguien y sentarte en un banco y ver la puesta de sol. Has terminado de trabajar y puedes sentarte y relajarte. Abraza la magia del momento. This exhibit is an opportunity to acknowledge criminal justice disparity amongst Latinos in Massachusetts. Hispanics are disproportionately impacted by the biases in the existing criminal justice system, both as victims and as the accused. Latino incarceration rates are nearly double those for whites, and there is a lack of adequate legal representation, especially for Spanish speakers and undocumented immigrants. In Massachusetts, Latinos face aggressive police practices. This exhibit is an opportunity to acknowledge the views and experiences of our Latino community and stand together as allies against alienation. Through the power of art and equity awareness, we will continue to stand with our diverse community.
Esta exhibición es una oportunidad para reconocer la disparidad en la justicia penal entre los latinos en Massachusetts. Los hispanos están desproporcionadamente afectados por los prejuicios en el sistema de justicia penal existente, tanto como víctimas como acusados. Las tasas de encarcelamiento de latinos son casi el doble que las de los blancos, y hay una falta de representación legal adecuada, especialmente para hispanohablantes e inmigrantes indocumentados.
