Wonderful Encounters

“Wonderful Encounters” explores how the artist imagines the world and nature. It’s an invitation to explore her artistic world. What do you see? What can you find? She creates imaginary shelters where we can escape from reality, and come back from it renewed. Here we can see a mixture of figures textures and bright colors that portray the extraordinary encounters we make as a community. Where we can see the union and interaction of flowers growth, butterflies, and bees living in the same community. It is an exquisite and tasteful combination of colors and figures. Like these worker bees, in Massachusetts we interact and make products that we all love. This is an art that challenges the limits of vision. This colorful piece portrays ideas of nature making relationships with working communities.

“Encuentros maravillosos” explora cómo el artista imagina el mundo y la naturaleza. Es una invitación a explorar su mundo artístico. ¿Que ves? ¿Qué puedes encontrar? Ella crea refugios imaginarios donde podemos escapar de la realidad y volver renovados. Aquí podemos ver una mezcla de texturas de figuras y colores brillantes que retratan los encuentros extraordinarios que hacemos como comunidad. Donde podemos ver la unión e interacción del crecimiento de flores, mariposas y abejas viviendo en una misma comunidad. Es una combinación exquisita y de buen gusto de colores y figuras. Al igual que estas abejas obreras, en Massachusetts interactuamos y hacemos productos que todos amamos. Este es un arte que desafía los límites de la visión. Esta colorida pieza retrata ideas de la naturaleza haciendo relaciones con las comunidades trabajadoras.

This exhibit is an opportunity to acknowledge how Latinos are also under-represented within Boston’s highly paid occupations. Latino workers without a college education face real barriers to employment. Currently, Latinos in Boston are overrepresented in low-paid occupations such as building and food preparation. For example, Latinos make up 33 % of food preparation jobs and median wages in these occupations are only $31,000 a year. Other occupations, like those in business and finance, pay wages of $92,000 a year, but Latinos comprise only 5 % of these occupations. There is also a range of jobs earning different wages, and Latinos are concentrated within the lower-wage ones. There is growing demand from employers in high-wage fields, such as science, technology, engineering, and math. This increasing demand presents a real opportunity because these fields offer good jobs with higher than average wages. However workers without the required high-level skills risk getting shut out entirely. In order to grow our economy so that we all can thrive, we need to do a better job building talent so that workers have the skills necessary to meet the demands of our 21st-century workforce.

Esta exhibición es una oportunidad para reconocer cómo los latinos también están subrepresentados dentro de las ocupaciones altamente remuneradas de Boston. Los trabajadores latinos sin educación universitaria enfrentan barreras reales para el empleo. Actualmente, los latinos de Boston están sobrerrepresentados en ocupaciones mal pagadas, como la construcción y la preparación de alimentos. Por ejemplo, los latinos representan el 33 % de los trabajos de preparación de alimentos y los salarios medios en estas ocupaciones son de solo $31,000 al año. Otras ocupaciones, como las de negocios y finanzas, pagan salarios de $92,000 al año, pero los latinos representan solo el 5 % de estas ocupaciones.
