Dancers
Holi represents the arrival of spring and the triumph of good over evil. It is also said to be the enactment of a game the Hindu god Lord Krishna played with his beloved Radha and the gopis, or milkmaids. The story represents fun and flirtatiousness but also touches on deeper themes: the passing of the seasons and the illusory nature of the material world.
The two abstract paintings “Dancers’ and ‘Revelry’ capture the energy and the intimacy of the festival of Holi. They speak of friendship, people, community and festivities splashed in color. Dr. Pani’s oil paintings depict the colors and gestures of celebration.

I saw your painting while at MGH with my husband. He was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in May 2012 and has been a patient here ever since. I’m redoing our bedroom and am looking for artwork to base the colors of the room. Our daughter is a dancer so “Dancer” speaks to me. Is it possible to get a print of “Dancer”? Thanks for much.
Best, Cheryl Dunn
